Topics Covered:
Non-adaptable curriculum resulting in lack of student support and inflexible learning modalities.
Lack of curricular options such as AP courses and electives available in Montana.
Overview / Summary of Topics:
To help expand the curriculum and student support MTDA provides unique courses and qualified teachers to promote learning despite the class size or location. Due to Montana’s population ranking 48th in the US the MTDA provides online learning that doesn’t suggest a certain class size. By providing online access to materials and instructors the MTDA provides the best learning environment for small populations.
To solve the issue of a lack of curricular options Montana Digital Academy (MTDA) implemented Blackboard classroom to provide a variety of programs to students including original credit, advanced placement, credit recovery, and multi-language sampler courses. By providing a variety of courses students are able to receive equal access to learning and learning materials.
Item of Interest:
Providing credit recovery courses can be beneficial to students who are close to graduation in which they can use the information in their near future.
The MDTA program is the only online program that’s joined with a college of education.
Areas of Help or Clarification:
Along with providing online education, what can the MDTA do to help those who don’t have access to a computer or laptop?
Are there blended courses offered for students who may not do best when learning independently?
